TODAY OUTSIDE THE CLOSET:

It's a real dream come true for me to have my blog turn into a TV show!  Yup, in case you missed all of my fb and twitter blabbing, From Drabulous to Fabulous is now a show on CITY TV in Santa Monica!

We shot the first episode on April 6, 2012.  I'm the producer so I have to arrange pretty much everything, like scheduling the guests, the show segments, details, etc.  And since I don't have a big staff, (hmm Oprah), those details trumped the other little detail, like I'm also the host!  I literally booked my make-up artist the day before and got my dress the night before. YIKES! Thank you H&M, I can always count on you!

To open the show I had stripped my set so I could decorate it on the air. I thought what better way to start off a show whose theme is taking the drab and making it fab. I was given some great white wicker for the set so naturally went with a Shabby Chic look.  I decided the first episode would be all about, re-sale, hand me ups and use what you have, since the set is made up of all vintage and thrift store finds.  With the exception of the cushions, pillows and my favorite thing, the crystally chandelier, found by the shows fabulous designers.

Ta-Da!
Since this is Santa Monica CITY TV I am collaborating with an organization called Buy Local Santa Monica, and featuring guests who own businesses and provide services like designers, artists, boutique owners, restaurateurs, etc. who are all part of the Buy Local Group, keeping it local in Santa Monica.
My first guest was Johanna Melamed, owner of the upscale re-sale boutique THE CLOSET TRADING CO.  I'm a huge fan of Johanna's stores, originally discovering her first store in Santa Barbara last year.  She now, at a very young age, has three stores, a true entrepreneur.  Johanna brought goodies, including a tortoise shell vintage Channel bag that I'm in love with, and we had a fashion show.
Vintage Prada!
These straw bags are so in for Spring!  My Mom wore these back in the day.
The aforementioned 'be still my heart' Channel.
Goodies.
That's Gail in the control room.
Me on set.
Action!
For the closing segment I did a little DIY on how to use vintage jewelry on shoes and a clutch to take an office look out for the evening, aka From Drab to Fab!

Now ideally, at the end of this post there would be the link to the show, but it's not available yet.  And that's show biz ;)

BIG thank you to Robin Gee and everyone at CITY TV and STUDIO 16! And my wonderful family for always being there!
